
Hello everyone and welcome to the 8th Minescape content update of season 9!
This update brings you Winter updates to the hub with a new bundle, advent calendar and more together with a new quest, a new Winter Event with an updated Winter Island, some bugfixes and QoL changes together with in-game spoilers for some future updates!
Winter changes
It is getting cold here at the GamesLabs workshop and to warm us up, we've worked hard to implement changes allowing us better represent the current season across the network. In this update we're releasing two major changes:
Hub changes:
Hub has been covered in snow and so the locals have changed their clothing accordingly thanks to the new COLD Bundle and a featured Winter shop!

Due to a late release of the calendar, we have made it so you can claim the first 7 days of the calendar. Make sure to grab your daily advent calendar rewards by using the /advent command each day in hub!
Minescape / Craftscape changes:
We have been working hard over the past months on some bigger updates, but before we can release them, we've decided to move up some of the things so everyone can enjoy some Winter changes together with some UI changes!
UI Changes
We have been working hard trying to make the game more appealing for players with no client-side mods via introduction of new displays like prayer side UI and other UI visibility changes. With this update, we're releasing the first part of those UI changes:
- Action based side menu (sneak+swap item keybind (default: sneak + F), sneak (shift) to exit)
- In-game item noted version display (each item now uses it's own texture)
- The compass now indicates true north!

The new action based side menu allows you to switch between seeing combat information, skill levels, prayers (with the ability to activate / de-activate them), and magic spells (with the ability to cast teleport spells).
You may have also seen spoilers for a new in-game minimap, but we are postponing the release of it together with some other features until it is in a smoother shape. We are also aware that these new UIs & changes to existing ones will come with some issues / bugs and we want to ask you all to player report any issues you find to our discord.
Jungle potion
Although Karamja is not the first place that comes to your mind when thinking of winter, the locals there have not been blessed by snow, yet they have discovered a new ritual... Can you help them perform it?

Winter Island
The Winter Island (a.k.a. Xmas area) has been inaccessible for the last couple of years as it was going through some renovations that are finally finished! We have decided to change the island up to make it better for the long run and something that could be available each Winter season. This new island comes with some good spots for gathering resources (with deposit NPCs) and training for low & mid level players, or even a nice area for players to bankstand in the Assassin's village!

The Island contains:
- Fishing spots
- Woodcutting area
- Farming & Herblore spaces
- Hunter creature habitat
- Cooking campfire
- Assassin's village
- Dwarf mine
- A White Partyhat reward
The Winter Island is live from now until the January 4th, 2026 (inclusive) and can be reached via a magic teleport spell (no magic experience will be granted for this spell).
Future updates
As mentioned previously, we are actively working on some future content & game updates, multiple of them at once. Some of the content has already been spoiled for fans on our Discord, and even more has now implemented (still WIP staged) in-game for players to discover themselves (you cannot interact with them, they are still work in progress and will be changed before final release)!
Bugfixes & QoL changes
Although the Halloween is long over, some scary bugs have decided to stay for longer than intended... We have decided to deal with them and bring in some quality of life changes to replace their spot!
- Added two new fairy rings: DIS - Wizards' Tower and CIQ - close to Yanille
- Players can now get a random drop if they have 100% (or more) RNG (luck) boost when thieving (previously they would always get the same item)
- Ardougne bankers were moved closer to the windows for easier access
- Updated the ore bag full message to correctly describe the bag
- Updated the location of the Skill Necklace Magic Guild teleport
- Updated the Fremennik Slayer Dungeon POI: added entry message, changed the default music to match the main game
- Added a description on items that are thievable inside the /mobs menu, specific monster sub-menu to clarify what items can be stolen from NPCs
- Removed unobtainable food items: raw & cooked Ferret
- Fixed the alchemy value of Dagon'hai Boots (gt) and Silver Sickle
- Fixed a bug preventing players from accessing the Hardwood Grove
- Fixed a bug with player grave spawning inside Fremennik Slayer Dungeon
- Fixed a bug allowing players to teleport to the abyss without being close to the Mage of Zamorak
- Fixed a formatting issue with skill buff icons in TAB
- Fixed an issue with the new inventory UI preventing players from seeing the offhand item in the toolbar
- Fixed a spelling mistake in the Mort Myre Pear item description
- Fixed a spelling mistake in the Scroll Pouch item description
- Fixed a spelling mistake in the Carnivorous Chinchompa name
- Fixed a double spacing issue on slayer tasks in the TAB display
- Fixed a an error displaying the wrong experience gained in the mining skill wiki for when mining Rune Essence
- Fixed the hub Knife Gadget blood effect color
- Removed the desert furniture mirage
Staff applications
GamesLabs is actively accepting Staff Applications! We are looking for players passionate about contributing to the GamesLabs Network, Minescape, and other exciting projects. We are specifically looking for players to assist on the following teams:
- Build team: Responsible for bringing the GamesLabs Network to life! Builds include Minescape Points of Interest, Minigames, Network Lobby, Convention Booths, etc. Previous build experience is helpful and preferred.
- Asset design team: Responsible for creating monster/item models, new UIs, icons, and more! Experience in all these fields is not necessary, but is preferred!
